Ellenville NY is a town in the Rondout Valley, a picturesque place at the base of the Catskill Mountains.

The town is surrounded by beautiful views of the mountains on both sides, and offers people a pleasant and friendly place to live, work and play.

Only 90 miles from New York City, and 90 miles from Albany, but a world away in the relaxed atmosphere, Ellenville is a delightful town to visit. The nearby Shawangunk Ridge is not only beautiful but is listed by The Nature Conservancy as one of the "75 Last Great Places on Earth”. Two creeks intersect in Ellenville, and flow on together to become the Rondout Creek which flows to the Hudson River near Kingston. NY.

Early settlers built in the center of this area in the late 1700s. Ellenville was first a canal town, and later a railroad town as the O&W or NYO&W lines brought people to the area until the 1950’s. Nearby to Route 17 or the "Quickway", Ellenville is easily accessed from the New York Thruway as well.

The Ellenville area and Ulster County offers people numerous scenic hiking trails including Sam's Point and Verkeerderkill Falls. What could be better than a great hike to a picturesque waterfall and then spending a relaxing afternoon browsing local shops for antiques?

In winter the nearby Holiday Mountain and Hunter Mountain slopes offer exciting fun for the family.

In any season, drive the beautifully winding roads through mountain passes, and enjoy a rest stop at a local apple orchard. The scenic Minnewaska State Park and Mohonk Preserves are a short drive from Ellenville, with nearby Rock Climbing on the Shawangunk Cliffs which attracts enthusiasts from around the world. The cliffs are considered to be the best eastern spot for rock climbing in the U.S.
